Hyde Park has long been hailed for its architectural treasures – on this walking tour we’ll look deeper into the details that make up some of Hyde Park’s most remarkable buildings, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, Barry Byrne’s St Thomas the Apostle, and Edward Dart’s Augustana Lutheran Church. We’ll dive into the history of Hyde Park (the town and the neighborhood) and the architecture of mansions, apartments, and institutional buildings. And of course we’ll dive into the history of brick architecture in Chicago!

After this tour you’ll never look at Chicago or the humble brick in the same way again!

Tour with Will

Will Quam:

Everything built (physical things like buildings or non-physical things like systems or societies) is designed and has impact, good or bad. It’s easy to walk by something like a brick building and pay it no mind. But the world is so much more interesting when you ask the question “what is that and why is it the way it is?”
